PerforAssess Recognized validates organizational performance maturity against GPAU standards with official status.

Recognized assessment overview

Overview

Purpose

Recognized Assessments are delivered by GPAU Accredited Assessors applying the full methodology of our proprietary maturity models. Organizations evaluated receive official maturity certificates demonstrating their commitment to business excellence and continuous improvement. Moreover, high maturity scores can also lead to obtaining a certification of compliance with GPAU International Standards and nomination for the Performance Excellence Awards.

Use Case Scenario

Ideal for organizations with established or advanced performance management systems that want independent validation, formal recognition, and a rigorous assessment to refine or elevate their practices. This assessment is also required for organizations seeking eligibility for the Performance Excellence Awards.

The 8 steps to excellence

The assessment process:

01.

Activate project

Meet the GPAU Accredited Assessors team and discuss the implementation timeline and requirements from the client organization.

02.

Collect internal documents

The liaison person on behalf of the client organization collects and prepares all necessary documentation for the evaluation. Several discussions about the files submitted can take place at this stage.

03.

Deploy survey

Disseminate the maturity survey for each capability among relevant groups inside the client organization.

04.

Conduct interviews

The GPAU Accredited Assessors will have several interviews with internal stakeholders, usually managerial roles, to get a better understanding of the organizational practices.

05.

Evaluate organizational practices

Data from document review, surveys, and interviews are consolidated to conclude on the maturity scores. An in-depth analysis is performed to outline strengths and improvement opportunities.

06.

Obtain outputs

A first draft of the assessment report is submitted for observations, followed by the final report, and the roadmap for improvement brief.

07.

Understand next steps

The assessment findings and recommendations are presented during the assessment closure meeting.

08.

Maturity Certificate release

The GPAU releases the official recognition for the maturity stage achieved for each capability. Furthermore, many organizations chose to organize an internal ceremony for certificates handover.

What is PerforAssess™ Recognized?

PerforAssess™ Recognized is the Global Performance Audit Unit's formal recognition assessment for organisations, based on the extended and standard methodology of GPAU's Maturity Models, including document review, surveys, and interviews. It is also the only evaluation that provides eligibility to compete for GPAU’s Performance Excellence Awards.

Learn more
Does PerforAssess™ Recognized assess an organisation’s performance results?

No. The performance results of the assessed organisation are not included as assessment criteria. The GPAU Maturity Models used in PerforAssess™ Recognized evaluate the tools, processes, and architecture of the performance management system, not the extent to which the organisation achieves its targets.

How detailed is the PerforAssess™ Recognized Roadmap for Improvement Report?

The Roadmap for Improvement Report includes basic details on implementing the assessor’s recommendations. However, it does not contain a ready-to-use action plan for each recommendation. Samples of PerforAssess™ Recognized assessment outputs are available in the Assessment Resources Library.

Learn more
Is there a minimum maturity level required for PerforAssess™ Recognized certification?

No. Organisations receive a formal maturity certificate reflecting their current maturity level for each capability assessed, regardless of the level achieved (I, II, III, IV, or V). However, eligibility for GPAU’s Performance Excellence Awards requires at least maturity Level IV.

Learn more
What does PerforAssess™ Recognized status signal to stakeholders?

PerforAssess™ Recognized status, reflected through GPAU’s Maturity Certificate, signals that an organisation’s performance management system has been independently assessed and validated against an internationally referenced framework. It provides objective evidence of institutional capability, relevant for government accountability, investor relations, and leadership credibility.

How long is PerforAssess™ Recognized status valid?

The GPAU's Maturity Certificate is offered as per the maturity model framework, which is active at the moment of the assessment. Maturity Models are updated every three years. GPAU encourages reassessment at regular intervals to confirm sustained maturity and to reflect ongoing improvements. The frequency of reassessment varies from one organization to another, and it is usually discussed during the engagement.

Can recognition be achieved for a single capability rather than all five?

Yes. For the Integrated Performance Maturity Model, organisations receive a separate maturity certificate for each capability assessed, as well as one for overall Integrated Performance. Capability scores and maturity levels may vary.

For the Operations Performance Maturity Model, only one maturity certificate is issued for each division assessed.

Is PerforAssess™ Recognized status published by the Global Performance Audit Unit?

Organisations that achieve maturity level IV or V may be listed in the Global Performance Audit Unit's public directory, and may be eligible for nomination at the Performance Excellence Forum and Awards Gala. Publication of recognition status is done with the organisation's consent and constitutes a significant positive reputational signal in the business environment.

How can an organisation express interest in PerforAssess™ Recognized?

Organisations interested in a PerforAssess™ Recognized assessment can express their interest through the official form. The GPAU team will follow up to discuss eligibility, assessment scope, and next steps.
