Dr. Adrian Brudan Featured by GulfApex for Leadership in Performance Excellence

GulfApex has featured Dr. Adrian Brudan, CEO and Co-Founder of GPA Unit, in its Leadership Feature series, highlighting his contribution to advancing strategy and performance excellence across the Gulf and the initiatives shaping GPA Unit's continued development.

GulfApex has recognised Dr. Adrian Brudan, CEO and Co-Founder of the Global Performance Audit Unit (GPA Unit) and Vice President of The KPI Institute, in its Leadership Feature series, reflecting on an 18-year career dedicated to strategy and performance management.

The feature highlights Dr. Brudan's work with government and private-sector organisations across the Gulf, alongside a series of GPA Unit initiatives developed under his leadership in 2026.

Together, those developments point to a broader direction for GPA Unit: building the infrastructure through which performance management maturity can be assessed, understood and advanced.

From assessment methodology to an integrated ecosystem

At the foundation of this work is the continued development of the Strategy and Performance Management Maturity Framework, now in its third iteration.

The framework provides the methodological basis for examining organisational capabilities across strategic planning, performance measurement, performance improvement, employee performance management and performance culture.

In 2026, this assessment infrastructure expanded further with the launch of PerforAssess, GPA Unit's digital platform for strategy and performance maturity assessment.

The progression reflects a wider ambition: to strengthen not only how organisational maturity is assessed, but also how evidence about maturity is captured, interpreted and translated into priorities for improvement.

Building a broader evidence base

Alongside assessment, GPA Unit has continued to expand its research into how strategy and performance management operate across organisations and markets.

The 2026 Maturity Outlook Research Reports examine strategy and performance management practices across the GCC, extending the maturity conversation beyond individual organisations to identify wider patterns, strengths and development priorities.

This connection between assessment and research is an important part of GPA Unit's evolving ecosystem. Organisational assessments provide a detailed view of individual capabilities, while broader research contributes to understanding how those capabilities are developing across sectors and markets.

Developing the conversation around organisational maturity

Building the field also requires creating space to examine and challenge the ideas behind performance maturity.

In 2026, GPA Unit published The Ladder, its magazine dedicated to performance maturity assessment and organisational excellence. Its second issue, The Systems That Shape Organizational Performance and Maturity, examines maturity through the interaction between organisational systems and capabilities rather than treating them in isolation.

This knowledge ecosystem extends across GPA Unit's research, publications, professional development activities and assessor community, supporting the exchange of practices and perspectives around how organisational maturity is understood and advanced.

The launch of SITE – Social Impact Through Excellence, powered by GPA Unit, has further extended this thinking towards the relationship between organisational excellence and social impact.

Bringing the performance excellence community together

The next step in this progression will take place on 9 December 2026, with the Performance Excellence Digital Forum.

Initiated by Dr. Brudan, the Forum will bring together leaders and practitioners to explore strategy, performance management, organisational maturity and performance excellence from different organisational and international perspectives.

It creates a common space for many of the conversations that have shaped GPA Unit's work: how organisations understand their current capabilities, how they determine where improvement is needed, and how stronger systems translate ambition into sustained performance.

A connected direction for performance excellence

While the initiatives highlighted by GulfApex span assessment, technology, research, publishing, social impact and professional dialogue, their value lies increasingly in how they connect.

Assessment creates evidence about organisational capabilities. Research places that evidence within a wider context. Technology strengthens the infrastructure through which assessments can be conducted and understood. Knowledge and professional development build the capacity to apply these practices. And platforms such as The Ladder and the Performance Excellence Digital Forum create space for the field itself to continue evolving.

GulfApex's Leadership Feature recognises Dr. Brudan's role in advancing this work and his contribution to strategy and performance excellence across the Gulf.

For GPA Unit, it also marks a moment in a wider journey: from developing maturity assessment methodologies towards building an integrated ecosystem around how organisations assess, understand and improve their ability to perform.
